How To Get There
AIRPORTS
Auckland Airport
New Zealand’s largest International airport. It has flights from 49 international destinations. Flight time between Auckland and Queenstown is about 1 hour 50 minutes.
Christchurch Airport
New Zealand’s 2nd largest airport with flights from 12 airlines from 25 destinations.
Flight time from Christchurch to Queenstown is 1 hour.
The realistic drive time from Christchurch to Queenstown is about 8 hours, with some stops. We don’t recommend driving directly after a long haul or overnight flight.
Overseas guests considering the road-trip option can contact us for further information and recommendations.
Queenstown Airport
The International airport is located in Frankton, an 8km (10-minute) drive to Queenstown. Currently 3 airlines operate in Queenstown: Air New Zealand, Qantas, and Jetstar.
The airport is a single runway and has a difficult approach, so the airport does close more often than other major airports and sometimes flights will be diverted.
NZ ETA
Some visitors and transit passengers can travel to New Zealand without a visa if they get an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before they travel.
